A New Year Resolution

My 2009 New Year Resolutions include:

- Work more efficiently
- Spending more time with the ones I love
- Having more time for myself
- Learn a new programming language
- Travel more
- Blog at least once a week
- Read more

But the most important resolution I can make today I to live life and enjoy each day as it comes

A Year In Review

2008 has been an especially busy year in my professional and personal life.

This year has seen me moving into areas of elearning based upon the development of a project and some research and development. I’ve moved on from being a sessional teacher and have gained a teaching contract at work.

I’ve travelled with work and met some interesting people and new contacts in my professional network. Ive given presentations and workshops that I never thought I would have done before.

Finally I gained further certification and qualifications that will help further my career.

In my personal life, well that’s going to stay personal but I can say that I am happier now than I was 12 months ago.

What will 2009 bring?

Mobile Internet

I’ve recently moved from my previous location, it’s a beautiful two storey three bedroom home. The only issue is the phone company cannot connect us till mid January so for the first week I have been getting my internet fix via my iPhone and occassional hotspots.

On Tuesday I was kinds fed up with the small iPhone key board that I went out to the phone dealer and picked up a mobile connection for the laptop.

The reception isn’t great but it beats a small screen and I’m more mobile now when it comes to going to meetings that don’t supply wifi access.

Well I’ve just finished presenting myproject. A few technical difficulties andsome glitches but thank god it is over.

It’s been an interesting conference. I’ve enjoyed watching the many presentations on the projects that have been developed this year and I am looking forward to attending next year if my next project takes off.

Converge Day 2

Day two of converge. Missed the morning session as I was stuck in my hotel room fixing up my presentation as I’ve been put in a normal classroom instead of a computer lab, so I’ve been modifying it at the last minute. Grrrrr

Converge 3D Gaming in learning

Presented by the Aspin Group.

Looked at the next generation of learners and integrating gaming onto the learning environment.

They demonstrated that gaming is amazingly on the increase and that every home has at least one type of gaming consoles.

Surprisingly females have a 42% share in who plays games.

How can games be integrated into elearning?

Showed a demonstration of a 3D Interactive Environment which uses photts and allows users to navigate around the room.

He talked about some programs used to create 3D programs such as the open source software Blender as well as the popular Adobe Flash.

Converge day 1

Here I am sitting on the train heading into Melbourne city on my way to converge. I am a bit nervous about presenting as this will be my first presentation and honestly I don’t think picturing the audience in their underwear will work.
