Skype

by Steven Cahill on July 17th, 2009

I’ve been a user of Skype for some time now; it’s great conversing with family and friends via video chat without consuming my home line.

What’s great is now I can run Skype over my iPhone though unfortunantly only whilst within a WiFi network; the only other drawback is no video chat due to the iPhone camera being on the other side of the device but let’s not worry about iPhone flaws.

And because I am a FireFox user; gotta have the Skype plugin and today I noticed that FaceBook also aknowledges my Skype contacts.

  1. Glad to hear you like Skype – have you tried screen sharing as well as video calling?

  2. Hi Peter

I haven’t used the screen sharing function yet; but certainly looks like a feature I can implement in a learning environment.

  3. You should take a look at the Skype in Schools wiki which was set up by an independent group of Skype users – perhaps more directly relevant to primary/secondary education but it might still be useful.

  4. Thanks Peter

I had a play around with the screen sharing; I like it. I definitely will be using more of it.
